Honda ACCORD E HEV Expert Review
Abhishek Katariya says
Even in the age of sports utility vehicles (SUVs), frugal mid-sized sedans havenât lost their charm. Honda Accord is one of them. The car was redesigned for the 2023 model-year and the e-HEV model was added to the line. The new sheet-metal wardrobe is probably the most attractive the Accord has donned in generations. The Honda Accord is widely acknowledged as the most comfortable car in its segment. Itâs available in a single trim in the Emirates.
Interior
The interior of the 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV is spacious like its previous-generation model. The cabin sports a sleek design and have elements borrowed from other recently updated Hondas like the City and Civic. The air-conditioning vents hide behind the expanse of the honeycomb trim. The entry-level model comes with fabric upholstery. A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit comes as standard along with a 12-speaker Bose audio system. A 10.2-inch digital instrument panel reveals car information. The thin windshield pillar reduces blind-spots. The doors open big for easy entry and exit. However, taller passengers need to watch their heads because of the sloping roofline. The central console has generous space for storing small items. The cabin also gets a number of cupholders.
Exterior
The 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV looks handsome from the outside. Honda engineers have restyled the car to look more like an elongated fastback. The new design may have a polarizing effect on buyers but the car now gets a more aerodynamic styling that reduces drag and improves fuel efficiency. The long hood and distinctively sloping roofline adds a sporty and sleek personality. The grille and headlights are now simplified to forge a more cohesive design. The car gets all-round LED lights and the taillights adopt a more European styling. The Honda Accord runs on 19-inch alloy wheels.
Ride & Handling
The 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV has one of the most comfortable cabins in its segment. The interior space is huge, and even rear-seat occupants can stretch their legs and travel. The two front seats have been redesigned and are now more body-hugging, and as in all sedans, enjoy the maximum legroom. The Accord hybridâs noise insulation is great, and the cabin is surprisingly quiet. Things get quieter when the car runs on electric power. A little bit more padding on the driverâs seat would have been better. The automatic climate control system does its job pretty fast. The rear seats have great back support that makes long-distance traveling less tiresome. The suspension system is nicely damped. It absorbs all the bumps and thuds with minimum impact in the cabin.
Engine & Fuel Consumption
The 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV is hauled by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre petrol engine thatâs mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The hybrid system comprises two electric motors, powered by a 1.1kWh lithium-ion battery. The powertrainâs combined output is 181 PS/334 Nm. The steering wheel is nicely weighted, and the car is easy to handle. Cornering lacks athleticism as it has always been with the Honda Accord. Acceleration is quick, and the hybrid powertrain maximizes fuel efficiency. Itâs a great car for cruising as well.
Braking & Safety
The 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV comes with a number of safety features. Most of them are pretty common among hybrid sedans these days, including collision mitigation braking, road departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. The Honda Hybrid gets a reverse parking camera along with parking sensors. The tires have a good road grip. The brakes have a great bite and stop the car instantly. The Honda Accord e-HEV comes with automatic emergency braking. Â
Verdict
The 2023 Honda Accord e-HEV, at a starting price of AED 164,900 is among the higher-priced cars in its class. But itâs a great family sedan with lots of space, is easy to drive, and comes with a lot of tech. The hybrid system offers great fuel efficiency. Those who donât mind paying extra for travelling in a bit more comfort are likely to buy the Honda Accord hybrid.Â
